As someone who finds it challenging to be still, Amanda’s yoga journey began in 1999 simply as another way to keep her body moving. Little did she know that yoga is actually a journey into stillness, and it wasn’t until several years later when she began to realize that while her body was happily opening and strengthening, her mind, heart and spirit were undergoing a transformation as well. Since that time she has had the opportunity to study with many amazing teachers, and in 2008 began teaching in Chapel Hill, NC. Her family relocated to Asheville in 2011 where she immersed herself in the vibrant yoga community of this beautiful city, feeling nurtured and held by that community and these ancient mountains since she arrived. She has had many careers over the years from Nurse Practitioner to yoga teacher, to most recently Co-Owner of an activewear company, and is now is grateful for the opportunity to partner with Sara LaStella as they continue to grow the Asheville Yoga Festival for many years to come.
Amanda enjoys about any activity that is outdoors whether it is hiking, climbing, biking, skiing, gardening or taking care of her chickens. Her husband and 4 children are her greatest teachers, reminding her to stay open to love and gratitude, and that this short, sweet life is meant to be a celebration.
Sara (Levine) LaStella
Before becoming a yoga instructor Sara was the Events Coordinator at a popular publishing company in San Francisco, where she traveled around the globe attending conferences. In 2007 she transitioned to teaching yoga after finding her heart on the mat. Sara was fortunate enough to work closely with many wonderful teachers, one of which was Kerri Kelly who gave her the opportunity to become the events manager at Off the Mat, Into the World - an organization bridging the gap between yoga and activism. With OTM she attended multiple festivals - including 5 Wanderlust Festivals - where she learned the true ins-and-outs of the festival world. After moving to Asheville with her husband in 2013, relocating her teaching career and having her beautiful daughter Eloise in 2014 she thought she had settled down. But luckily, fate had it that she would partner with Amanda Hale to take over ownership and management of the Asheville Yoga Festival...The rest is yet to be told.
When Sara isn't busy chasing her adventurous toddler around, she spends her time running a small side business on etsy creating mobiles for children. She also teaches in the Teacher Training at the Asheville Yoga Center and gets out into the beautiful Appalachian mountains whenever she has the chance.
Carole’s discovery of yoga started at a point in her life when things needed to change. Starting with a small 10 minute home practice, she realized quickly how yoga has the power to transform and change our mind and thoughts. From there, her practice continued to grow. She completed her first yoga training in Ohio, and began teaching where she practiced, Prana Yoga in Broadview Heights, OH, under the guidance of Kathleen Kossman. After retiring from 30 years of teaching in the public school system, and with her son, Daniel, off at The Ohio State University, she moved to the beautiful Asheville community.
Carole has completed both the 300 hour Advanced Yoga Training and the 300 hours Therapeutically Oriented Yoga Training at Asheville Yoga Center. In addition, she is a certified Curvy Yoga teacher and a Zumba teacher. She is registered as an ERYT200/RYT500 with the Yoga Alliance. She teaches at Asheville Yoga Center, ABTech Community College, and Inspired Change Yoga. Additionally, Carole teaches balance classes for older adults at the YMCA.
In her spare time she can be found standing in one spot while her beagle, Kiwi, smells a blade of grass, making the best Oatmeal raisin cookies, or watching ‘reality’ tv.
Social Media & Imagery
My journey with photography began initially through storytelling. I was studying abroad in Thailand, researching Southeast Asian Culture, and nonchalantly decided to start a blog. Pretty soon I was taking my little point and shoot with me everywhere. I was amazed at how one photo could convey so much to my friends and family back home. Returning to the states, my heart was irreversibly tied to the camera.
In 2011 I moved to Asheville to take a yoga training and organically started photographing people and the little nooks around town. I found so much joy in capturing something special, or beautiful or true and then sharing it.
I’m a lover of anything that is deep, real or spontaneous.
Haylee is a lover of all things yoga, wellness, and spirituality. Her passion for yoga started early on in college when she began taking yoga classes at the school gym to reduce stress from her consuming major as an actor/dancer. After completely falling in love with the feelings she emanated after stepping off of the mat post practice, she completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training at Guruv Yoga in Orlando, Florida in 2013. On a mission to further her knowledge, she completed her 300 hour yoga teacher training in Bali, Indonesia in 2014. Since then, she has been teaching classes around the US, all the while continuing to learn and grow as both a teacher and a student of yoga. In addition, her passion for diving deeply into health and wellness, led her to become a Certified Health Coach through Institute of Integrative Nutrition in 2015.
For the past several years, Haylee has been a full-time event planner soaking in knowledge from all aspects of the events business including: production, design, destination management, venue management and hospitality. She loves the creativity and community created from events of all kinds and wants nothing more than to bring the logistical knowledge she has gained to the yoga world in the form of festivals and retreats. She's ecstatic to be a part of the Asheville Yoga Festival team!
Off the mat, you can typically find Haylee enjoying the company of close friends, cooking up a healthy meal (or just eating in general- total foodie!), spending time outdoors in the North Georgia mountains or playing with her sweet golden retriever, Riley, who has been her earth angel for the past 15 years.

(Adapt Public Relations)
Jill grew up in Western North Carolina and after many years away, the mountains called her back in 2004. She has worked in marketing, communications, and public relations for over eighteen years and in 2013 launched Adapt Public Relations with her business partner. They work with clients in a variety of industries from healthcare to retail, and have helped manage and promote numerous successful events, including Moogfest and HempX.
Jill’s first experience with yoga was at a young age. In the late 1980s she convinced her parents to let her take a yoga class at a local college. It was taught by a German couple who were in their late sixties, but looked like they were in their thirties. She was hooked.
When she’s not running her business, Jill loves to be outside hiking, trail running, walking her dog, or digging in the dirt. She is passionate about Tar Heel basketball and her guilty pleasures include The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and peanut butter M&Ms.
